SHELLEY BOYCE 

SUSAN VARGA

Susan Varga was born in Hungary and came to Australia at the age of five. She has an MA in English Literature and a Law Degree and has worked as a teacher, in film and video and briefly as a lawyer before settling to full time writing in the mid nineties. Her books include the award winning Heddy and Me and Happy Families, and Broometime co-authored with Anne Coombs. Her latest novel is Headlong.

Susan is also a community activist and co-founder of Rural Australians for Refugees. She has lived in the Southern Highlands for more than17 years and believes firmly in the potential and value of community foundations.

Susan joined the board of the Southern Highlands Foundation in 2005.

 

MAREE TYNAN

MAREE-TYNANMaree Tynan was a teacher for thirty four years in Sydney and the Southern Highlands, working for sixteen years as a school principal. Maree is a strong advocate of Public Education and is a promoter of partnerships between school and community. She has been involved in community projects in the Northern Villages and social justice issues in the wider community.

Maree has been a director of the Foundation since 2006 . She was a "founding friend" and has been a member of the Philanthropy Awards Committee. Maree is currently a member of the Executive Committee and is the director overseeing MAD Youth, the Youth Philanthropy committee of the Foundation.

 

 

LUCY BAINGER

LucyLucy Bainger has been a ‘friend’ of the Foundation since its establishment and became a director in early 2009. Her particular interest in the Foundation is in helping to develop the awareness and potential of philanthropy in our community in a way that is accessible to all,

Lucy has volunteered in various areas over the years including the Tibet Foundation (UK), the Uluru Childrens Home (India), WIRES, Wild Plant Rescue (Blue Mountains). Rural Australians for Refugees and currently offers respite home-stays to refugees, provides music support and training to local early childhood teachers and helps with various Foundation events. She is also doing post graduate research in addition to her usual work as a music teacher.

Outside of her work, Lucy’s passions are caring for her menagerie, playing and listening to music, reading, movies, gardening and growing vegetables.

STEVEN FOSTER

Steven joined the board of the Foundation in August 2009. He is also a board member of the Ben Mikic Foundation and is a active member and Secretary of the Southern Highlands Cycling Club.

Steven is a graphic designer, making most of his contribution to the Foundation through his marketing skills. He was involved in the recent re-branding of the Foundation. Steven moved to the Southern Highlands with his young family in early 2007.

JACQUI PAGE

JacquiJacqui is currently working with three organizations in the NPF sector.  Apart from being a Board Member for the Southern Highlands Foundation she is Vice President for Volunteering Wingecarribee and is President-Elect for Rotary Club Berrima District for 2011/12.  She also recently produced a musical for the Southern Highlands Youth Arts Council. 

Jacqui holds a Master of Business Degree in Employment Relations from UTS and, prior to her retirement, had worked for 21 years with The Coca-Cola Company in Sydney and in Bangkok as a member of the senior executive team.  Her specialization is in Human Resources and specifically in the areas of organisation design and development.  Jacqui also managed and was a Trustee for the Coca-Cola Australian Superannuation Fund which had members in many locations around the globe.
